This Summer School is an international interdisciplinary platform for graduate students (Master and PhD) of all disciplines based at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB). The goal is to develop and foster interdisciplinary exchange between students, researchers and teaching staff on the future of urbanity.
With a focus on the field of Urban Arts and Culture, Urban Engineering and Urban Architecture we open up a horizon of diverse questions. By means of transdisciplinary approaches, planning models of the future urban space will be explored. As life in metropolis has potentials as well as challenges for all disciplines, we ask: What characterizes the urban world which you live in? In which urban world do you want to live? What are urban realities and what is your urban utopia? How can we plan, use and open spaces and buildings? How can this be designed suitably as well as sustainably? Where do disciplines meet in an urban context? Separated analytically in science, it can be regarded as a synthesis in everyday life: Let’s start a dialogue between the disciplines in order to create a future urbanity that meets the needs of a future society!
The International Summer School 2017 is a project by RUB Arts & Culture International (inSTUDIESplus) in cooperation with the Department of Cultural Education at the Chair of Sport Pedagogy & Sport Didactics and the Center for the Arts.
